Obtaining reciprocal links.

What we are talking here is about Reciprocal links, for many of you i need not to tell what they are and how important they are actually for a website's popularity and ranking indeed, but for those who have recently come across this term let me explain them what it actually is:

Reciprocal link is actually a mutual link between two websites to ensure mutual traffic exchange and indeed help each other to build a page rank too, it is a mutual agreement between two webmasters to place a hyperlink on their own respective websites to other's website.

What i want to tell you all here is, we generally confuse this term with backlinks or inbound links but actually its different in many ways from backlinks. For details regarding backlinks you can checkout my posts and you will find one on backlinks also there in that post i have expalined everything about backlinks. What we need to understand is that a reciprocal link is a backlink but a backlink is not a reciprocal link so when you will be making a list of all the backlinks (which indeed affect your google ranking) that you have you should also include all your reciprocal links but when you count all your reciprocal links, counting your backlinks in it would not be considered a valid count.

Now coming back to the topic, i would really like to talk very clearly here that in earlier days reciprocal links were a huge deciding factor in one's page rank but slowly and gradually as search engines like google and yahoo are constantly improving with their new and better searching algorithms, this reciprocal link system is slowly going down and it has been started to considered as a link exchanging scheme rather. And now search engines give more preference to one way links (backlinks) and three way reciprocal links (which is nothing but three sites linking to each other in a loop). But what we get here is that this factor still counts in a page rank, so the fact remains same that we still need them.

Now when a new webmaster with his site's page rank actually 0, requests for a reciprocal link he faces denies from everywhere which is really frustrating and disappointing for a new webmaster, but every one faces this easy in beginning and gradually everything start falling into rite places. But still i really want to share these very important set of advices i want you to follow if you really want to work it for you, those are as follows:

1.Be ready with your site ( Site should be totally ready )

Your site should be ready with excellent, unique and keyword rich content indeed. Content always has a maximum priority because search engines are always hungry for some unique and quality content. And after all that's wot you need to keep your users involve in your site and keep coming back.

2.Search engine submission.

If you have not submitted your site to popular search engines like google, yahoo and msn, i would advise you to do it quick as before your site is not indexed as for example in google there would be no use of working on reciprocal links or backlinks because then you wont have a page rank to work upon, so submit your site quickly to google especially and then wait until your site is indexed, once its done you are ready to work on your page rank part by indeed working on your reciprocal links. So you see everything is connected.

3.Open directories submission.

Its probably the oldest and the most working method to obtain one way links ( backlinks ). The reason i advised this is that when your site is indexed in google it is initially at Page rank (PR) zero, and when you request some reputed site with a high page rank for a reciprocal link, they usually straight away decline those requests as the take new sites as some unprofessional material which can harm their page rank. So when you submit your site to open directories, you are actually collecting backlinks and indeed gaining a reputation all around Internet, this way search engines would start to know your site and will assign you initial page rank according to your site's content, now you would have all the opportunities to at least request all those sites with basic page ranks to link with you and you will find that they usually accept your request because they themselves too are probably looking for higher page ranks and when they get some links they don't deny it. Thus you can kick start this reciprocal link stuff for your site now.

4.Article submissions.

Now you must be thinking why i advised this thing, so let me tell you that article submission is a very powerful tool for getting targeted traffic at first place and then getting quality one way links for your site. Now how you get targeted traffic is, usually these article submission sites are already with high page ranks due to a wast demand of articles now days, so when you submit your articles at these sites, you usually place links to your sites at the end of your respected article and when people see your knowledge and expertise they wish to see if the owner of that article got some site or something, now when they get your link at the end they are indeed interested in the content of site as they already are interested in the theme of your article thus generating targeted traffic to your site and also at the same place you are actually getting yourself a backlink on a highly ranked page. So its way too benificial.

Now for those who are actually not into writing stuffs and all, i would recommend you to hire a ghost writer which could prepare good articles for you and at the same time could prepare quality content for your site too, because if you are not into writing, you probably need a writer for your site's content so it would really not matter if you will pay him little more for writing a few more articles for your submission.

5.Work it out for backlinks.

I would really recommend that you should really use the power of Internet to popularise your site's link obtaining backlinks at the same time. Some of the ways could be, using all those social networking accounts for boosting your link popularity but please note that don't flood those sites with your links because then you would look like some spammer to them and they could probably ban you from the site, now more ways include forum posting, google groups, yahoo groups etc. So work your way out and research for more and more ways for link popularity.

But please do note here that this whole process takes time and is not a overnight joke probably 2 even 3 months some time and this is a fact so if you are not serious and patient at the same time, this thing is probably not for you. So be serious, consistent and patient at the same time and you will see things working out slowly and your effort will start paying back.

Till now From point 3 all i said and explained was for obtaining one way links so that you can obtain a initial page rank say PR 2 or PR 3 to work with. And now that you have a good basic page rank you can come to the main part which will be not be so difficult to perform now and that is asking webmasters with high page ranks to link with you. The basic strategy is to ask reciprocal links from those sites whose page rank is slightly higher then you take for example you have a page rank 2 so ask for reciprocal links from site with page rank 3 or 4 its more likely for them to accept your request rather then straight away jumping to sites with page ranks 7 or 8. So now gradually make your way to top ranks by going step by step.

I would say it concluding the topic that the constant rejection and disappointments take away all the inspiring forces from a new webmaster but i would like to say from my own self experience that don't loose hope there are people out there who are in same condition as you are but you have to be consistent and always remember that the sites with top page ranks started just from a zero page rank. I really thank you for visiting my blog and i really hope that my efforts help you guys in any way out and makes your experience more enjoyable and rewarding.
